May 17th - Activities for Families



John 14:15-21 Jesus promises to send us the Holy Spirit.

Games:

Three legged walk

Find someone to pair up with. Tie your inside legs together with a scarf.
Try walking around- how does it feel to have someone next to you?
To make this work- you have to work together.
We try to walk with the Holy Spirit – we may have to work at that too by listening to God’s words and putting them into practise,

Kites

We can’t see the wind but we know it’s there. We can’t see the Holy Spirit, but we know he is with us.

John 14:15-21  The Promise of the Holy Spirit

Jesus said: “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.  I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever. 17 He is the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God. The world cannot receive him, because it cannot see him or know him. But you know him, because he remains with you and is in you.
18 “When I go, you will not be left all alone; I will come back to you. 19 In a little while the world will see me no more, but you will see me; and because I live, you also will live. 20 When that day comes, you will know that I am in my Father and that you are in me, just as I am in you.
21 “Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. My Father will love those who love me; I too will love them and reveal myself to them.” 

What does Jesus want us to do? (If we love Jesus we will do what he says…)     

Think about what Jesus asks us to do e.g.
Love each other;
Share what we can
Say sorry when we’re wrong
Don’t fight back

Can you act  an idea out for someone to guess? Or take a picture so we can all see? 

Make: Jesus tells us to love one another

Jesus’ big instruction to us is – to love one another. If we love one another, it can show what Jesus is like.
Make a heart badge.
White heart inside and red heart glued on top but cut open to make 2 doors.
You can write LOVE inside



Pray that others would love and know Jesus 

Make a people paper chain.
Think about four people who you would like to know Jesus better. As you make the people paper chain pray for each one.

Sunday March 29th - Sunday Club - The Raising of Lazarus

RESOURCES You will need one 'parcel' with nothing inside it for the 'PASS THE PARCEL' game. Normally, to make the 'parcel' a prize is wrapped in several layers of wrapping paper of fabric. Each layer wrapped as if you were wrapping a gift. If possible, use a different fabric or paper for each layer so you can see the different layers when each one is unwrapped. This time, do not pu a prize inside and use only a few layers, perhaps 2-3. a Gingerbread person or some form of biscuit, a bit of icing and, if possible, 'red shoe laces' to wrap around a happy and a sad face to hold up.
